FLOWER ARRANGING WORKSHOP: FARM TO VASE with The Flower House

Join us in learning how to bring your cutting garden to life for your next event, or just to enjoy a beautiful vased arrangement. In this class, we will show you the best ways to harvest flowers from your garden and utilize them in an arrangement. The best part is that we will be working with all locally grown blooms from a local flower farm in Highland Park. All supplies are included in the fee.

CHICAGO’S SWEET BAKERIES REMEMBERED with Cheryl Brown
Fri., November 18 at 2 pm
Take a trip down memory lane with historian Cheryl Brown and reminisce about Chicago’s wonderful bakeries of the past and present. Cheryl will talk about the oldest running bakery in Chicago and share the histories of national baking companies that got their start in Chicago: Maurice Lenell, Keebler, Heineman’s, Burny Bros., Sara Lee, and the National Biscuit Company or Nabisco. Cheryl will also share photos and stories from some of your favorite local bakeries, such as Gladstone, Dinkel’s, Lutz, Weber’s, Jarosch, and Roeser’s. To make the program even sweeter, Cheryl will bring bakery treats for the audience to enjoy!
