The Community House is home to four theater groups that perform throughout the year.
Children's Theatre of Winnetka
Established in 1974, Children's Theatre of Winnetka (CTW) is the premiere musical theatre program for children in grades 4-8 who reside or attend school in New Trier Township. Young people, under the guidance of professional and volunteer adults, are empowered and inspired through participation in musical theatre performance and production. CTW produces two musicals each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Participation is by audition only (see the CTW website for details about upcoming auditions).
Skyline Children's Theater has been a mainstay at the Community House for over 10 years and is one of the largest and longest-running children's theater companies in the Chicagoland area. Led by experienced theater professionals and catering to a diverse age range from preschool through 8th grade, Skyline offers a no-cut program, giving every actor their moment in the spotlight! Skyline produces musicals throughout the year, including full-day and half-day summer camps; tickets are limited to family and friends of cast members. The Tower Players is a community theatre group devoted to producing high-quality amateur theatre. A group of parishioners from Sacred Heart Parish in Winnetka created The Tower Players in the 1970s. Over the years, productions have included cast members of all ages, bringing actors who are new to theatre together with seasoned professionals. The Tower Players produce one play each year.
Village Follies
The Village Follies' annual variety show has been a staple at the Community House for decades. Cast members, crew, and other volunteers write their own scripts, choreograph musical numbers, and in some cases even compose the music! Each year is a one-of-a-kind show featuring parody cover songs, creative dances, and clever sketches with a touch of vaudeville spirit. Join the Follies as a cast or crew member - all are welcome!
