Child Care

The Free to be Kids childcare room is looking for subs to work 9am-12, Monday through Saturday, during the summer. We will be looking to hire permanent staff to work 8am-12, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturdays, come the end of August. Winnetka, IL Founded in 1911, the Community House was a gift from the Winnetka Congregational Church to the entire village as a nondenominational center for wholesome recreation, social opportunity, cultural experiences, and civic engagement. Providing the village’s first gym and numerous meeting rooms, it became the gathering place for the entire village and beyond. Thousands of people of all ages flocked to classes, scout meetings, lectures, musical performances, theater, art exhibits, and sports competitions. More than a century later, the pace has not slowed; more than 250,000 visits to the Community House take place each year. As the Community House enters the next chapter in its history, the President will provide the staff leadership and direction to fulfill the organization’s mission. In partnership with the Board of Governors and the staff, the President will be responsible for ensuring the successful future of the organization. The House is on an upward trajectory, with an approved multi-year strategic plan in place, and the next leader will be tasked with leading and mentoring staff to effectively fulfill the mission. A proactive eye on utilization, engagement and the financial health of the organization will be needed. The Community House seeks an accomplished nonprofit leader who demonstrates a keen understanding of, and passion for, the organization’s unique mission. This person must be ready to join with the Board to lead the Community House in realizing a growth-oriented vision that sees the organization as relevant and meaningful to the community today and tomorrow as it was in 1911. This individual will have experience in attaining strategic goals through a proven ability in fundraising, leading staff and volunteers to execute new ideas and approaches, administration, collaborative ventures, and constituency building. The ideal candidate will have a background that includes financial and staff and facilities management combined with a strong understanding of philanthropy and proven success in raising significant funds from individuals, foundations, corporations, and public entities on behalf of a mission and organization. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
